The Coastal Crimson Scroll – June 2026 Edition

Strengthening Our Community Through Service

As we navigate the busy month of June, it is essential to remember the "Why" behind our involvement in these community events. The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Alumnae Chapter operates with a mission to provide assistance and relief to those in need, particularly within the Black community in our service area.

Our presence at events like the Juneteenth Festival is more than social; it is a demonstration of our commitment to International Awareness and Involvement and Educational Development. By supporting the Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park, we are helping to preserve a narrative that is vital to the identity of Hilton Head Island. The history of Mitchelville is a testament to the resilience and agency of the Gullah people, and we are proud to stand as partners in celebrating that legacy.

Furthermore, our focus on Economic Development continues as we encourage our community to support minority-owned vendors at these summer festivals. We believe that economic empowerment is a cornerstone of true freedom.

Administrative Announcements & Requirements

To ensure our chapter remains a bastion of efficiency and service, we have several administrative updates for our members and prospective partners:

  • Executive Board Meeting: The next planning session will be held soon. We will be finalizing the logistics for our late-summer youth initiatives.

  • Delta Academy & Delta GEMS: Enrollment for the 2026-2027 cycle will begin soon. We encourage parents of young women ages 11–18 to monitor our website (https://www.hhibacdst.com/event-details/delta-academy-delta-gems-2025-2026) for application deadlines and orientation dates.

  • Community Partnership Requests: Local organizations looking to collaborate with HHIBAC for fall programs should submit their proposals by the end of June to ensure they are considered during our annual planning retreat.

We maintain high standards for all our community partnerships, ensuring that every initiative we support aligns with our core values of sisterhood, scholarship, and service.

Looking Ahead: A Glimpse of July

While June is filled with celebration, the work of the Delta never stops. In July, we will be shifting our focus toward:

  1. Back-to-School Readiness: Preparing for our annual supply drives to ensure every student in Bluffton and Hardeeville starts the year with the tools they need.

  2. Maternal Health Advocacy: Special workshops focused on wellness and resources for families in our region.

  3. Voter Education: With elections on the horizon, we will be ramping up our social action initiatives to ensure our community is informed and ready to make their voices heard.
